How Is An Paperback Book Created & Published?
Book Specifications
Once all of your copy is completed and ready to be sent to us for conversion into a print-ready paperback, we will discuss with you your preferred layout of the book, paper quality and size, fonts, text sizing and any other details about how you would like the finished paperback to look. We also discuss the book's cover and whether you already have the artwork prepared, or if you want us to design it for you.
With this done, we prepare all the paragraph and character stylesheets ready to be applied to each chapter of your book.
Creating the Book
With the design and layout of the paperback agreed upon, we then start to create your book. Firstly we create all the stylesheets needed to format the paragraphs, headings, titles, page numbering, copyright, table of contents, dedication and other pages of the book.
Once this has been done we create the chapters of the book as individual files and encapsulate them within the book structure. The styles are then applied to each element of the contents of the book and saved. The book is now ready for you to proof read it.
Proof Reading & Corrections
To keep the cost of creating your paperback book as low as possible, we do not include proof reading into the cost of our paperback publishing. We simply take the material you supply us with and convert it into a print-ready paperback book. (We do offer proof reading as an additional service).
With the basics of the paperback now created, we send you a PDF copy of it to review and check for any typos you may have missed during your editing and to ensure the layout is as you want it to be, before you sign it off.
Cover & Printing
Now that you have signed off the layout and styling of the book, we deal with the cover, ISBN barcode and the preparation for the printing of your book. The book cover is the trickiest bit of the book to deal with, as the spine's width depends upon the number of pages and paper weight of the book.
An ISBN number needs to be added to the book's rear cover in the correct format. If needed, we can supply you with an ISBN number at minimal cost. Once done, we have a print-ready paperback book!
Publishing the Paperback
You have the choice between Print on Demand or privately printing your book. The second option means you will have the upfront cost of printing to bear, as well as the storage of your books. You have greater control over the paper and print quality with this method.
However, the cost-efficient choice is Print on Demand where you have no upfront printing costs, which are taken out of the selling price leaving you with the balance as profit. Amazon KDP (Kindle Direct Publishing account) is the best way to print on demand. All we need to do is upload the book and complete the KDP entry for your book.
Marketing the Book
Now your paperback book is live on Amazon, it is time to market the book. By now you should have created your Amazon Author Central profile and added your biography and book listing, which links to your KDP account.
Your marketing will probably centre around social media, word-of-mouth or paid advertising on Amazon, Google or Facebook. We also strongly suggest you have a dedicated website built to showcase your book and also possibly you as an author. We would be glad to help you with this.
